The meaning of -ka 〜か – 意味

It shows an interrogative question inside the sentence.

新幹線が何時に出発するか駅員さんに聞いてみました。
Shinkansen ga nanji ni shuppatsu suru ka ekiin-san ni kiite mimashita.
I asked a train station attendant what time the shinkansen departs.

明日の遠足に何を持っていかなければいけないか友達に聞いてみます。
Asu no ensoku ni nani wo motte ikanakereba ikenai ka tomodachi ni kiite mimasu.
I will ask my friend what I should bring for our school daily trip tomorrow.

その素敵な洋服をどこで買ったか教えてくれませんか。
Sono suteki na youfuku wo doko de kattaka oshiete kuremasen ka.
Could you please tell me where you bought this pretty clothes?

先生に日本語試験会場がどこにあるか何度も教えていただきました。
Sensei ni nihongo-shiken-kaijyou ga doko ni aru ka nandomo oshiete itadakimashita.
My teacher told me repeatedly where the Japanese language examination center was located.

このカッコいい歌は何という歌か友人に教えてもらいます。
Kono kakkoii uta wa nan-toiu uta ka tomodachi ni oshiete moraimasu.
I’ll ask my friend to tell me what this cool song is called.

来週はようこちゃんの誕生日だって！
何が欲しいか聞いてみましょう。
Raishuu wa Yoko-chan no tanjyoubi datte!
Nani ga hoshii ka kiite mimashou.

姉においしいお菓子屋さんはどこにあるか教えてもらいました。
Ane ni oishii okashiya-san wa doko ni aru ka oshiete moraimashita.
I asked my sister to tell me where to find a good sweet shop.

今日の日本史講義は何時から始まるか知っていますか。
Kyou no nihonshi kougi wa nanji kara hajimaru ka shitteimasuka.
Do you know what time today’s Japanese history lecture starts?

今朝ニュースでいつ梅雨が明けるかの予想時期が発表されました。
Kesa nyuusu de itsu tsuyu ga akeru ka no yosou ga happyou saremashita.
The predicted time for when the rainy season will end was announced on the news this morning.

次の試合でどのチームが優勝するか誰もわかりません。
Tsugi no shiai de dono chiimu ga yuushou suru ka dare mo wakarimasen.
Nobody knows which team will win the next match.
